Cooking Ideas for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is coming up soon and you might want to make something that you and your family will enjoy to make this thanksgiving and have a wonderful celebration for this break. Here are two easy recipes to make.

The first recipe that you can do and enjoy with your family is something that is easy and simple and every bite is sweet and delicious. This recipe comes from sugarspunrun.com.

Apple Cake

Ingredients :

  • 3 cut and diced Apples
  • 1 ½ of sugar
  • 1 cup of light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 
  • 3 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of salt 
  • ½ unsalted butter
  • ½ cup canola or vegetable oil
  • ⅓ cup of buttermilk or orange juice
  • 2 ½  teaspoons of vanilla extract 

 

Prep work : gather all ingredients, and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 

Step 1 :  Core, peel and dice apples

Step 2 : Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt, and packed brown sugar

Step 3 : Make a well in the center then add your wet ingredients, canola oil, melted butter, eggs, buttermilk or orange juice,  and vanilla extract, mix well

Step 4: Add apples into the batter and mix until well combined

Step 5 : Lightly grease on the pan, both sides and bottom. Then pour your batter and spread evenly

Step 6  : Put in the oven for 45 minutes, one done check with a toothpick to see if it is clean, if not put it back in for 1-5 minutes.

Step 7 : Let it cool, then enjoy!

The next recipe is a sweet and tart bite-sized treat, that is yummy for the whole family.

 

Cranberry Cheese Bites

Ingredients :

 

  •  Tube of croissant dough ( found at grocery stores)
  •   4 cups  frozen cranberries 
  •  1 cup of water
  •  1 cup of  sugar
  • Orange or lemon zest
  • Brie (found at grocery stores)
  • Optional: walnuts or raisins

Prep work : preheat the oven for 350 on Fast preheat 

 Step 1 : First you need to make the cranberry sauce. According to SimplyRecipes,  look at any cranberries that are soft or don’t look good throw them away.  Then defrost your cranberries in warm water, then any cranberries Prepare your pot by boiling your water and sugar with the stove on medium. Once it starts to boil add your cranberries and continue to cook them until they burst. Add orange zest as you see it fit, let it cool then put it in a bowl in the fridge.

Step 2 : Your next step is to cut the croissant dough up into how many squares you want, the squares decide how many you want. Next if you have a cupcake tray put the squares into the tray flat. 

 Step 3 : Get your Brie and cut the top and bottom so you get the inside. Put the Brie on top of the croissant

Step 4 : Take the cranberries out then place it on top of Brie

Step  5 : Bake for 10 minutes until golden brown

Step 6 : Let cool then put walnuts or raisins. Enjoy!
