Here are two simple recipes to make with your family this winter.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Yields 3 dozen cookies
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks salted butter, room temperature
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375F degrees.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well in between each addition.
- On low speed, slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Place 2 tablespoonfuls of dough onto the baking sheet 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the oven for 7-9 minutes.
- Let it sit on the tray for 1 minute to cool.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Layered Cookie Bar
Yields 2 to 3 dozen bars
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- ½ cup of butter
- 14 ounces ( 1 can ) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch-flavored chocolate chips
- 1 ⅓ cups flaked coconut
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit
- In a small bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and butter
- Press crumb mixture firmly onto a baking pan
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk on top of the gram cracker layer and repeat layering ingredients
- Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned
- Cool and cut into bars
