The Olympics is an international sports event that the entire world gets to enjoy. People share the joys of sports and entertain themselves by watching athletes from different countries compete in a variety of sports. While Olympic Games are held every four years, Summer and Winter Olympics are held in different years with two-year terms. Now in 2022, it’s time for the Winter Olympics to take place.

When Will the Olympics Be Held?

On February 4th, 2022, the 2022 Winter Olympics will begin in Beijing with the Opening Ceremony. 91 National Olympics Committee nations including the U.S. will participate in the Games. The Olympics will be concluded on February 20th, with the Closing Ceremony.

What Sports Will Be In the Olympics?

In the Games, athletes will compete from a total of 15 sports: Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Cross-Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Luge, Nordic Combined, Short Track Speed Skating, Skeleton, Ski Jumping, Snowboard, and Speed Skating. The total events of the Games scheduled are 109 events with seven new presenting programs: Freeski Big Air, Women’s Monobob, Mixed Team Snowboard Cross, Mixed Team Aerials, Mixed Team Short Track Relay, and Mixed Team Ski Jumping.

Top Athletes To Watch During the Games

      Mikaela Shiffrin – Alpine Skiing: She is an athlete of the U.S., who participates in slalom, giant slalom, and combined and won two gold medals and one silver medal in the Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics. She also made great records in World Championships and World Cup.

      Mikaël Kingsbury – Freestyle Skiing: He is an athlete of Canada, who competes in moguls and won one gold and silver medal in the Pyeongchang 2018 and Sochi 2014 Olympics. He also holds successful records in World Championships and World Cup.

      Chloe Kim – Snowboarding: She is an athlete of the U.S., who participates in halfpipe and won a gold medal in the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics. She also has impressive records in World Championships and Winter X Games.
