So what is Red Ribbon Week? According to Wikipedia, Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States.

It began as a tribute to fallen DEA special agent Enrique Camerena in 1985. In a simple definition, it is awareness about prevention of drugs, violence, and other bad things.

As mentioned, it will be held on October 25th to October 31st. You might be saying. Why is Red Ribbon Week important? In our current generation, kids have been exposed to drugs, violence, and sometimes even alcohol. These horrible things can ruin kids’ lives. Basically, it is telling people to stay drug free. What schools might do is give out certain merchandise such as wristbands or pencils.
